ANGEL JOHNSON OF UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS (TEX.), a senior guard from Houston, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week for games played from Friday, January 30 through Sunday, February 1.  SCAC Men's Basketball Release (Week 12)

Johnson powered the offense over a big weekend, leading the way as the team picked up two conference wins to remain undefeated in league play. He scored 38 points over two games while shooting an efficient 63.6 percent from the field, scoring 24 points in a last-second win at Texas Lutheran to remain undefeated in league play. Johnson also made a major impact as a playmaker, dishing out 14 assists and added eight steals. 
 
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year Jaden Braden of Centenary had a sensational weekend for the Gents as he averaged 22.0 PPG and shot 51.4 percent from the floor with a pair of double-digit scoring performances in wins at home over Austin College and Dallas. Braden averaged 35.0 minutes/game and tallied 10 rebounds, 10 assists, and three steals. In Saturday's win over Dallas, he poured in a season-high 26 points on 11-of-22 shooting from the floor in 31 minutes with seven rebounds, six assists, and three steals while only turning the ball over once. Senior Asher Nofziger of Colorado College showed out both on the glass and on the scoreboard for the Tigers finishing the weekend with a pair of double-doubles and averaged 15.5 points and 12 rebounds per game. On Friday against Concordia (Tex.), Nofziger led the team with 16 points, 10 boards, and two assists while shooting 50 percent (7-of-14) from the floor. The next day against Texas Lutheran, Nofziger finished with 15 points, 14 rebounds, two assists and two blocks in an overtime win. Senior Caleb Squires of Hendrix had a career day in the Warriors' loss to Schreiner with an incredible shooting performance, scoring a career-high 29 points in just 20 minutes of play. The senior was 7-of-10 from behind the arc and finished 10-of-13 from the field. Junior Logan Brinkoeter of LeTourneau averaged 19.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks in a 2-0 week for LeTourneau. He recorded his ninth double-double of the year with a career-high-tying 24 points and 10 rebounds to go with three blocks in an 84-72 win over Dallas. Brinkoeter then had 15 points, nine rebounds, and two assists in an 82-69 win over Austin. First-year Eyal Shamri of Ozarks (Ark.) averaged 14.0 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists per game over the weekend. Shamri totaled four three-pointers and was perfect from the free throw line. Senior Mason Wallace of Texas Lutheran averaged 16 points per game over the weekend including scoring 23 against Colorado College. Wallace added nine rebounds, three steals and three assists as well.
