ROUND ROCK, Texas -- Three first-half goals from sixth-seeded Hendrix College lifted the Warriors to the SCAC semifinals in a 3-0 victory over third-seeded University of St. Thomas (Tex.) in the second quarterfinal at the SCAC Women's Soccer Tournament at Round Rock Multipurpose Complex. A quick strike in the sixth minute of the game from Laramie Cox gave the Warriors the advantage and Kaylee Fluger capitalized on momentum putting the Warriors up 2-0 in the 12th minute. Hendrix tacked on a final goal in the 24th minute to advance to the SCAC semifinals for the first time after rejoining the league this season.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Cox's goal marked just the second of her senior season as she sparked the Warriors' offense with her strike in the sixth minute.
- Ava Puente tallied a pair of assists on the game-winner and the third goal of the game for Hendrix. That pair elevated her to second on the team this season with three assists.
- Hendrix posted just eight shots in the game and was outshot 24-8 by St. Thomas (Tex.).
- This marked just the fourth time this season the Celts were held scoreless.
