ALEXIS BODUNRIN OF UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS (TEX.), a junior outside hitter from Tomball, Texas, has been named the SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for matches played from Tuesday, October 7th through Sunday, October 12th. SCAC Volleyball Release (Week 7)
Bodunrin tallied 33 kills over two matches while averaging 4.13 kills per set as the Celts were 2-0 including a five-set win over Schreiner who was previously undefeated in league play. The junior had 19 kills against the Mountaineers while adding 14 against McMurry with 21 total digs and a pair of blocks. This marks Bodunrin's second-straight Offensive Player of the Week award and third of the season.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year middle blocker Madisin Hartsfield of Austin College led the 'Roos offensively and defensively over a 1-1 weekend with a team-high 2.67 kills per set and a .424 attacking percentage. Hartsfield totaled 16 kills with 13 against LeTourneau. First-year outside hitter/defensive specialist Zoe Garcia of Centenary tallied 16 kills, 12 digs, four aces, and three assists in two conference matches over the weekend at Austin College and Dallas. Junior middle blocker Brooke Brilliant of Colorado College posted 35 kills over three matches with a 2.92 kills per set average over a 2-1 week for the Tigers. Brilliant posted a .477 hitting percentage over the week with no more than two errors in any match and continues to rank inside the top-25 nationally in hitting percentage this season. Junior middle blocker Riley Brady of Hendrix posted 22 kills with 11 each against Ozarks (Ark.) and #2 East Texas Baptist. Against ETBU, Brady hit .304 and added three blocks. First-year setter Emily Mullin of LeTourneau posted 11 total kills over the weekend with eight coming against Austin College in a 3-1 win. Against the 'Roos, Mullin had eight kills, 18 assists, 14 digs and two blocks. Sophomore right side hitter/outside hitter Marcette Williams of McMurry totaled 13 kills with 10 at Colorado College. Williams also added nine total blocks with five against CC. First-year outside hitter Brooke Humphrey of University of the Ozarks (Ark.) recorded nine kills against Hendrix as she leads the Eagles this season in total kills. Senior outside hitter Ryann Ely of Texas Lutheran finished a dig shy of two-double doubles this week with 28 total kills. Ely's 17 kills against Concordia (Tex.) were a career-high and the double-double against the Tornados was the first of her career.
