JETH FLORES OF UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS, a senior center back from Missouri City, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, September 8th through Sunday, September 14th. SCAC Men's Soccer Release (Week 3)
Flores anchored the Celt defense with 180 minutes over two matches, helping secure a shutout while holding UMHB to just one goal. He also contributed offensively, converting a penalty kick in the 2-0 win over North American University.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior defender Dylan Stapley of Colorado College played the full 90 minutes in helping the Tigers post their third-straight and fourth shutout of the season on Saturday in a 2-0 win over Carroll (Wis.). Stapley anchored a defensive effort that limited the Pioneers to just one shot on goal. Senior defender Aidyn Ogle of Concordia helped lead the Tornados to a pair of clean sheets in three matches last week. In the 1-0 victory over Hardin-Simmons, Ogle helped CTX hold the Cowboys to only four shots on goal. In a 0-0 tie against 13th-ranked Southwestern, Ogle logged 71 minutes of lockdown defense. First-year defender Ilan Valdez of McMurry was critical in the defensive effort in the War Hawks 4-3 win over ETBU last week. Valdez played all 90 minutes and helped limit ETBU to just two shots the final 20 minutes to allow the War Hawks to secure a late win. Junior defender Harper Branch of Ozarks helped the Eagles secure two results last week, tying Ecclesia and Lyon at home both 2-2. Branch spearheaded the defensive effort for Ozarks and jumped in offensively, scoring a goal in the opening contest of the week against Ecclesia. First-year goalkeeper Ernesto Avila of Texas Lutheran combined for 17 saves across two matches last weekend in a pair of tough 1-0 losses. His 13 saves against Southwestern are second most in a match in program history.
