COREY THOMPSON OF UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS (TEX.), a junior from Houston, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, December 15 through Sunday, December 21. SCAC Men's Basketball Release (Week 7)
Thompson turned in a strong offensive performance to help lead the Celts to a 2–0 weekend, highlighted by a statement win over previously undefeated and No. 5 Mary Washington. Thompson scored 37 total points across two games, averaging 18.5 points per contest while shooting an efficient 60 percent from the field and 44.4 percent from three-point range. He added four rebounds, two assists, and a block while playing 32 or more minutes in both games.

Junior Jamien June of Austin College had a strong all-around week in a pair of games, averaging 11.5 points, 5.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds, 1.0 steals, and 0.5 blocks per game while shooting 44.4% from the field, 42.9% from beyond the arc, and 100% from the free throw line. Senior Quentin Beverly of Centenary led all scorers with a season-high 25 points for the Gents in a 91-75 loss to UMHB. The senior banked five 3-pointers shooting 50 percent from beyond the arc in 37 minutes. He was 2-of-3 at the FT line with four rebounds and two assists as he scored 20+ points for the third time this season while his five treys marked a season high. Junior Ty Hendler of Colorado College scored a team-high 21 points in a loss to Nebraska Wesleyan on Saturday. The San Diego native finished the game shooting 46.7 percent from the floor and went 6-of-7 from the free-throw line. He added four rebounds, two assists and a steal. Senior Jackson Mayes of LeTourneau averaged 19.0 points -- connecting on 57.7 percent from the field and 50 percent from 3-point land -- with 4.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists per game in a 2-0 week. He had 18 points on 8-of-13 shooting with three rebounds and three assists in a 90-82 win over Millsaps. Mayes then had a game-high 20 points with five rebounds and one assist in a 94-82 win over Lewis & Clark. Junior Teddy Tapken of Texas Lutheran earned All-Tournament honors at the Hilgeman Holiday Classic as the Bulldogs split a pair of contests with a win over MUW. Tapken averaged 17.0 points per game shooting over 55 percent from the floor. He added nine rebounds and four assists across the two contests.
