LAURA JONES OF UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS, a senior guard from Cypress, Texas, has been named the SCAC Women’s Basketball Offensive Player-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, November 24 through Sunday, November 30. SCAC Women's Basketball Release (Week 4)

Jones lifted the Celts to a big non-conference win over No. 21 ETBU last week, scoring 17 points on a blistering 85 percent shooting, highlighted by a perfect 5-for-5 from distance in just 14 minutes of action. She added one rebound, one steal and one assist in the victory.

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Junior guard Lexi Martin of Austin College had a big weekend as the 'Roos went 1-1 at the Millsaps Thanksgiving Tournament, averaging 18.5 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 3.5 steals per game while knocking down 47.1 percent from three-point range, making 8-of-17 triples over the course of the weekend. Senior forward Kyra Stokes of Centenary had a balanced game for the Ladies against Wiley in a non-conference contest last Tuesday in Marshall, Texas as she finished with nine points and five rebounds in 24 minutes. Stokes added a season-best four steals and an assist and was 3-of-6 from the floor. First-year forward Rayna Welsch of Colorado College led the Tigers to a 1-1 weekend that included a win over Whitman on Sunday. Welsch finished the weekend averaging 17.5 points, 8.0 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game. She racked up another double-double on Friday against the College of St. Benedict with 17 points and 11 rebounds. She also contributed defensively with three steals in the win over the Blues. Sophomore forward Zoiey Jumawan of Concordia provided a spark off the bench in the defensive slugfest victory over UMHB last Saturday. She poured in 13 points, grabbed three rebounds, and dished out two assists as she tallied a team-best three three-pointers in only 17 minutes of action. Senior guard Helana Chadwick of McMurry led the War Hawks to an SCAC opening win over Schreiner last Tuesday. Chadwick scored 23 points, dished out six assists, grabbed five rebounds and swiped one steal. Senior guard Lili Garcia of Ozarks posted a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds in a win over Rhodes on Sunday. Garcia was efficient from the field hitting 5-of-9, including 1-of-3 from the three-point line, while dishing out four assists. Junior guard Davi’Yanna Jones of Texas Lutheran scored 19 points, grabbed six rebounds, accounted for two steals and added one assist in a loss to UMHB on Sunday.
