ELYSSA RODARTE OF UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS (TEX.), a junior from Sugar Land, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for meets held from Monday, March 23 through Sunday, March 29. SCAC Track & Field Weekly Release - Week 5
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Allison Mueller-Hickler of Colorado College finished fourth out of 55 runners in the women's 10K race at the prestigious WashU Distance Classic in St. Louis, Mo., with a personal-best time of 35:11.76. First-year Malaya Thomas of Concordia (Tex.) turned in a strong sprint double for the Tornados, posting a 12.69 in the 100m and a personal-best time of 25.48 in the 200m at the PVU Relays. Senior Alayna Galloway of LeTourneau set a personal record in the 800-meter at 2:25.82 and finished third overall in the event at the NSU Invitational. Senior Chloe Weathers of Ozarks (Ark.) finished with a 10:39.29 to place fourth overall in the 3,000-meter at the Oral Roberts Invitational. Weathers' time is a new school record. She was the top NCAA III runner in the event. In the 1500-meter, Weathers ran a 4:53.53 for eleventh place, again finishing as the top NCAA III runner. Sophomore Aliyah Fonseca of Texas Lutheran finished 5th overall and 1st amongst Division-III competitors in the 3000m steeplechase at the Charles Austin Classic with a program record time of 11:56.46. The time breaks her own program record time of 11:58.08 set just a year ago.
