JOEY RAMIREZ OF CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY (TEX.), a senior guard from Weimar, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, December 1 through Sunday, December 7. Ramirez averaged 34.5 ppg, 11.0 rbg, 6.0 apg, and 2.5 spg in a pair of wins for the Tornados, including a career-high 44 points against Hardin-Simmons. In a 122-102 triumph over Hardin-Simmons, Ramirez earned a career-high 44 points to go along with season-highs of 13 rebounds & five steals. The 44 points tied for the fourth most in program history for the Tornados and tied for the seventh most by a SCAC player in a single game. In a 108-91 victory over Huston-Tillotson, Ramirez totaled 25 points, nine rebounds, and a season-high seven assists.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Jordan Hudgins of Austin College had a double-double in the 'Roos' conference opener against Dallas, scoring 13 points on an efficient 6-of-9 shooting performance while pulling down 13 rebounds. Hudgins also had two blocked shots in the game. Sophomore Nicholas Addison of Centenary scored a team-high 15 points for the Gents in their league opener against LeTourneau on the road. Addison was 5-of-7 from the floor in 30 minutes with eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals and finished 5-of-6 at the free throw line as he reached double figures for the third time this season. Senior Jackson Mayes of LeTourneau averaged 22.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 3.0 steals per game in a 1-1 week for LeTourneau. He had 19 points with six rebounds, six assists, and three steals in a comeback win over Centenary to open league play. Mayes then had 25 points with nine rebounds, one assist, and three steals in a narrow loss at Hardin-Simmons. Mayes has scored at least 24 points in five of LeTourneau's six games this season. Senior Jalen Cherry of McMurry posted three double-doubles over a 2-1 week for the War Hawks averaging 15.0 ppg and 12.3 rpg. Cherry shot over 53 percent across the week and had 19 offensive rebounds. Sophomore Camden Hyman of Schreiner averaged 17.0 ppg over a 2-0 week including a league win at McMurry. Hyman scored 20 in the Mountaineers' 93-84 win at the War Hawks and shot 85.7 percent from the floor. He averaged 62.5 percent from the floor across the week and 80 percent from the free throw line. Senior Reyce Allen of St. Thomas (Tex.) delivered a dominant performance in a statement win over No. 15 Trinity, leading the Celts with 16 points while shooting 7-of-9 from the field and going 2-for-2 at the line. He added six rebounds and three steals, impacting the game on both ends of the floor. Senior Mason Wallace of Texas Lutheran scored a career-high 29 points for the Bulldogs in a 75-73 win over Southwestern. He posted a double-double with 11 rebounds and shot 84.6 percent from the free throw line making 11-of-13 shots. He also added three assists and a pair of steals.
