ALLISON HUGHES OF UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS, a senior right-hander from Cypress, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Pitcher-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, April 13 through Sunday, April 19. SCAC Softball Release - Week 11

Hughes delivered a no-hitter in her only appearance of the week, tossing a complete game shutout in a 13-0 win over Centenary to help secure a series sweep. Hughes struck out seven batters in five innings of work, issuing just three walks to post a 0.60 WHIP to go along with her perfect 0.00 ERA . 

Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year pitcher Mia Post of Concordia (Tex.) turned in a standout performance in the circle, leading the Tornados to a 7-2 win over conference-leading Texas Lutheran. Post tossed a complete game, allowing just two runs on nine hits while navigating five walks to improve to 7-1 on the season. Sophomore right-hander Gianna Robinson of Hendrix earned her fifth win of the season in the circle with an 8-inning complete game over LeTourneau in Game two, helping secure a series win for the Warriors. She limited LeTourneau to just two runs across the longest outing of her career. She also made a relief appearance in the series finale and tossed 0.2 innings of hitless ball. For the week, Robinson post a 3.00 ERA with a 1.61 WHIP in 9.1 innings of work in three appearances. First-year pitcher Laynie Davis of LeTourneau went 1-1 with a 2.63 ERA across two starts and 13.1 innings on the week. She went all seven innings in a 7-4 win over Hendrix allowing just one earned run with four strikeouts. She also tossed 6.1 innings in a 4-3 loss at Hendrix and struck out two allowing four runs. First-year pitcher Sophia Garza of McMurry was strong in the circle over the weekend, leading the War Hawks to a series win over Schreiner. Garza went 1-0 in two appearances, scattering just four hits over 7.1 innings of work and striking out five. She finished the week with a sparkling 0.00 ERA and an impressive 0.95 WHIP. Junior right-handed pitcher Bailee Cowell of Ozarks tossed a four-hit complete game shutout in game three of the Eagles series against Dallas. Over seven innings, Cowell issued just one walk and struck out four. Cowell retired the side in the first, second and seventh inning to help her record her fourth shutout of the season. Sophomore pitcher Jordyn Joy of Texas Lutheran picked up the win with a complete game performance in the Bulldogs’ 12-1 win over Concordia on the road last weekend. Joy tossed 5.0 innings of work, allowing just four hits, while striking out two and allowing just one earned run. For the week, Joy posted a 1.40 ERA and a1.20 WHIP.
