ALEXIS BODUNRIN OF UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS (TEX.), a junior outside hitter from Tomball, Texas, has been named the SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for matches played from Tuesday, October 28th through Sunday, November 2nd. SCAC Volleyball Release (Week 10)
Bodunrin had another impressive weekend with 48 kills in two matches, posting 22 or more in both outings. Bodunrin averaged 6.00 kills per set while adding 27 digs and two blocks. In a four-set loss to Schreiner, the junior posted 26 kills and in a four-set win over McMurry, she added 22. This honor marks her fifth SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week honor of the season.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior middle blocker Brooke Brilliant of Colorado College posted 20 kills with a .415 hitting percentage as the Tigers went 2-0 in league play. Brilliant totaled 13 kills in a 3-1 win at Schreiner and added seven digs over the weekend. Senior outside hitter Aubree McCann of LeTourneau contributed 39 kills over three matches with 18 coming in a 3-2 win over Howard Payne. In conference action, McCann collected 21 kills with 12 coming in a sweep of Austin College. She also added five blocks and six digs over the week. Sophomore right side hitter Marcette Williams of McMurry totaled 30 kills with 23 coming in conference play last week. Williams posted 13 in a loss to Colorado College and contributed six blocks and seven digs across the three matches. First-year outside hitter Brooke Humphrey of Ozarks (Ark.) recorded 23 kills across two matches for the Eagles with 13 in a loss to Hendrix. Humphrey added 13 digs and one block over the week. Junior outside hitter Giana Hilliard of Schreiner posted 52 kills over three matches, putting up a double-double in each match over a 2-1 week for the Mountaineers. Hilliard topped out at 20 kills against Colorado College in a four-set loss while adding 16 or more digs in each match. The junior hit .305 for the week including .372 against St. Thomas (Tex.) in a four-set win. Senior outside hitter Ryann Ely of Texas Lutheran posted back-to-back double-doubles with 32 kills and 31 digs in a 1-1 week for the Bulldogs. Ely recorded a career-high 20 kills in a four-set win over Concordia (Tex.) and averaged 3.56 kills per set over the two contests.
