JOEY RAMIREZ OF CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY (TEX.), a senior guard from Weimar, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Basketball Offensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, November 24 through Sunday, November 30. SCAC Men's Basketball Release (Week 4)
Ramirez averaged 27.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 4.0 steals over a pair of victories last week. In a 117-107 win over Arlington Baptist, Ramirez tallied 23 points, seven boards, four steals and three assists in 29 minutes of action. In Sunday's 100-89 victory over East Texas Baptist, Ramirez recorded a season-high 31 points to go along with team-highs of eight rebounds, seven assists, and four steals.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Trenton Thomas of Centenary scored a team-high 13 points for the Gents Tuesday against the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor. Thomas came off the bench and played 17 minutes and finished 5-of-8 from the floor with three rebounds and a pair of assists as he recorded his first double-figure scoring performance of the season. Senior Asher Nofziger of Colorado College led the Tigers against two of the top teams in the nation in No. 5 WashU and No. 8 UChicago. The Denver native averaged 16.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 0.5 assists per game. He logged 22 points and seven rebounds against the Bears on Saturday and then scored 10 points and grabbed eight boards on Sunday against the Maroons. Junior Dylan Archey of Ozarks (Ark.) had a career night with a 6-of-10 performance from the three-point line to score 29 points in a win over previously undefeated Millsaps College on Sunday. Archey also pulled down seven rebounds and finished the game hitting 10-of-17 from the floor while going 3-of-4 from the free throw line. Junior Jaden Ross of St. Thomas (Tex.) delivered a highly efficient offensive weekend across two games, averaging 17.5 points per game while shooting 57 percent from the field and a blistering 66.7 percent from three. Coming off the bench, Ross knocked down eight threes, added two assists, and committed just one turnover in 39 total minutes.
