SCAC Announces 2025 Women's Golf Postseason Awards

SUWANEE, Ga. -- Following exclusive voting by the head coaches and sports information directors of the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC), the league office today announced the 2025 women's golf postseason award winners. 2025 All-SCAC Women's Golf Team

After winning the program's fifth consecutive SCAC team title and competing at the NCAA Championships for the fourth consecutive year, Trinity University was rewarded with two of the three major conference postseason awards as Jessica Mason and Tiger head coach Shelby DeVore repeated as the league’s Player of the Year and Coach of the Year. In that same balloting, University of St. Thomas’ Leah Torres was chosen Freshman of the Year.

Mason, a junior from Westminster, Colorado, was the league’s lone All-American, earning Second Team honors by the Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WCA) last month for the second consecutive year. She finished 12th at the NCAA Championships in May and is the first SCAC women’s golf athlete to earn back-to-back All-American accolades since Emily Bachert of former member Centre College earned four consecutive honors from 2009-2012. Mason earned First Team All-SCAC honors in April at the SCAC Championships after finishing second at White Bluff Golf Resort, firing rounds of 76 (+4), 84 (+12) and 80 (+8) to finish at 240 (+24). Mason finished the SCAC Championships second with 29 pars and tied for eight with four birdies. She finishes her SCAC career with two of the top-20 all-time 54-hole performances in SCAC Championship history.

Over the course of the 2024-25 season, Mason, who finished the year as the 22nd-ranked women’s golfer in Division III, posted four top-three finishes in eight events, including victories at the Alamo City Classic, Space City Classic and the West Region Invitational. The sixth-ranked player in the region, Mason finished the year with an impressive adjusted scoring average of 73.3.

Mason is the sixth different student-athlete in SCAC history to win Women’s Golfer of the Year in consecutive seasons and the first to accomplish the feat since Centenary’s Jessica Varner earned the honor in 2017 and 2018. Her honor marks the fourth consecutive year and sixth time in program history a Trinity Tiger has been named Golfer of the Year.

St. Thomas’ Torres, a first-year from Kingwood, Texas was the top rookie finisher at the 2025 SCAC Championships back in April, earning Honorable Mention honors after posting a three-day total of 262 to claim 11th. She finished fourth in the SCAC Championship field with 25 pars and her 5.25 par-5 scoring average was tied for fourth. Torres closed out her collegiate debut season, ranked 164th nationally and 45th in the region after posting a trio of top-three finishes in eight events and an adjusted scoring average of 79.8.

Torres is the first athlete in St. Thomas’ program history to earned SCAC Freshman of the Year honors.

DeVore earned her fourth SCAC Coach-of-the-Year honor in as many seasons after returning to lead the Trinity program she starred on as a player from 2015 to 2018. This season, she led the Tigers to another wire-to-wire 47-shot victory at the 2025 conference championships. The Tigers finished with a team-high 22 birdies over the 54 holes and posted 125 pars en route to their fifth-consecutive title. The five straight conference titles equals the five won by DePauw University from 2002 to 2006. The championship is the ninth overall for the Trinity women's golf program, which breaks the tie with Southwestern University for most in conference history.

DeVore led the Tigers to their fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance, becoming the fist SCAC program to compete in four consecutive NCAA Championships since former member DePauw qualified for 10-consecutive from 2001-2011.

The Coach of the Year honor is the fourth in DeVore’s career and ninth in Trinity women’s golf history. She is just the second women’s golf coach in SCAC history to win four consecutive Coach of the Year honors, joining Vance Lazar of DePauw who secured five consecutive honors from 2002-2006.
