ALEXIS BODUNRIN OF UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS (TEX.), a junior outside hitter from Tomball, Texas, has been named the SCAC Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for matches played from Tuesday, September 30th through Sunday, October 5th. SCAC Volleyball Release (Week 6)
Bodunrin totaled 52 kills with a 4.73 average per set in a 3-0 weekend for the Celts. Bodunrin had a .331 hitting percentage for the Celts offense that averaged .318 over the weekend and added 34 digs, six blocks and four service aces in an all-around effort. Against Hendrix in a four-set victory, Bodunrin posted a double-double with 20 kills and 18 digs.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior outside hitter Selah Coleman of Austin College led the 'Roos with 43 kills, totaling 14 or more in each match, averaging 4.30 kills per set. Coleman helped the 'Roos to a 2-1 weekend including Head Coach Ed Garza's 700th career victory. First-year outside hitter/defensive specialist Zoe Garcia of Centenary totaled 15 kills over a trio of matches while adding 30 digs and three service aces. Junior middle blocker Riley Brady of Hendrix tallied 35 kills over a 2-1 weekend of SCAC play for the Warriors, averaging 3.18 kills per set while posting a .347 hitting percentage. Brady posted 10 or more kills in each match and totaled 30 digs. Senior opposite hitter Emma Smith of LeTourneau contributed 24 kills with 18 coming in a four-set win over Concordia (Tex.). Those 18 kills mark a career high as the senior posted a .486 hitting percentage against the Tornados. Junior middle hitter Rylie Patterson of McMurry posted 22 kills over the week with 19 coming in league play. Patterson's high over the weekend was eight in a loss to Austin College. First-year outside hitter Brooke Humphrey of Ozarks (Ark.) posted 27 kills over three matches for the Eagles with a balanced effort contributing nine kills in all three matches. She also added 24 digs and a pair of blocks. Sophomore middle hitter Lauren Monaco of Schreiner totaled 27 kills over the week with 19 coming in conference action as the Mountaineers swept all four matches over the week. Monaco posted an impressive .571 hitting percentage over the week with nine total blocks. Senior outside hitter Maselina Tuufuli of Texas Lutheran led the Bulldogs with 29 kills as TLU swept league action this weekend with three victories. Tuufuli averaged 3.22 kills per set and posted a hitting percentage of .382 while also adding four blocks.
