25 SCAC Standouts Bound for NCAA Track & Field Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - The Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) will be represented by 25 student-athletes, including a pair of relays, across six conference institutions at the 2025 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships, which are set to take place on May 22-24, at the SPIRE Institute's Outdoor Track & Field facility in Geneva, Ohio. The NCAC, the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission, and SPIRE Institute are set to host the 2025 championship. Complete NCAA Release

McMurry University and Trinity University will be represented by eight athletes, followed by Colorado College with five. Texas Lutheran University is sending two student-athletes, while Southwestern University and the University of St. Thomas will send one athlete to the championships to represent the SCAC.

For each individual event contested, including the decathlon and heptathlon, the top 22 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each relay event contested, the top 16 declared relay teams, one per institution, were accepted into the competition.  

For the men, McMurry senior DonTre Sinegal headlines the entrants, qualifying for three different individual events. Sinegal is the top qualifier in the triple jump with a mark of 15.76m and has qualified second in the long jump (7.58m) and fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (13.86). The War Hawks will also send Jacorian Colbert and Reagan Owen to compete in the 100-meter dash and hammer throw respectively. Colbert, a senior, qualified sixth in the 100 with a time of 10.32, while Reagan, also a senior, qualified 15th in the hammer with a toss of 59.67m.

Other SCAC representatives in the national field on the men's side include, Colorado College junior Rabbit Barnes who qualified fifth in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 3:44.22, St. Thomas senior Matthew Hicks who enters the meet tied for eighth in the high jump with a mark of 2.07m and rounding out qualifiers in the top 10 is TLU senior Ezra Acero who will vie for a national championship in the pole vault. Acero qualified tied for 10th, clearing 4.95m.

Rounding out the men's individual qualifiers, Colorado College sophomore Will Shuflit arrives to Ohio ranked 11th in the 10,000-meters (29:39.76), Trinity junior Bocar Diagana joins Sinegal in the triple jump, ranked tied for 14th with a leap of 14.80m and in the 400-meters, TLU's Braylen Brown and Colorado College's Josh Williams will compete for a national title. Brown, a first-year, is slotted 20th with a time of 47.24, while Williams is ranked right behind in 21st with a time of 47.31.

In the relay events, the SCAC will be represented by two squads in the 4x100 meter relay in the McMurry War Hawks and the Trinity Tigers. The McMurry quartet of senior Shepherd Miller, Colbert, first-year Kamryn Cleveland and senior Dazhaun Walton qualified ninth for the event with a time of 40.51. The Trinity relay team comprised of senior Legend Grigsby, junior Orie Piken, senior Nic Ladreyt and sophomore Price Schultea posted a time of 40.76 to qualify 16th.

On the women's side, Colorado College senior Isabel Olson was the lone individual to qualify for two different events going into the weekend. Olson's best event is the 1,500-meters, where she qualified 12th with a time of 4:27.59. She will also toe the line in the 5,000-meters in which she is ranked 22nd with a time of 16:45.58.

Additionally, the SCAC will be represented by five individuals going into the weekend, ranked in the top-10 of their respective events, led by Trinity senior Danya Selber. Selber is tied for the fifth fastest time in the 100-hurldes at 13.96 seconds. McMurry sophomore Brenna Stell is sixth in the pole vault with a mark of 4.00m, while Southwestern senior Arden Neff qualified seventh in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:01.7. First-year Annabelle Lanik of Trinity is eighth in the long jump with a leap of 5.98m and Colorado College junior Alison Mueller-Hickler ranks ninth in the 10,000-meters with a time of 35:18.61.

Rounding out the final SCAC individual qualifiers, Trinity senior Joy Areola will compete in the triple jump, ranked tied for 11th with a jump of 12.08m, while McMurry senior Naj Campbell will join Selber in the 100-hurdles after she qualified tied for 16th with a time of 14.16.
