KADEN BERTRAND OF UNIVERSITY OF ST. THOMAS (TEX.), a junior from Katy, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played from Tuesday, February 10 through Sunday, February 15. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 2
Bertrand delivered a dominant performance in conference play, earning the win after throwing 7.1 innings while allowing just one hit and no runs. Bertrand struck out 10 batters and limited opponents to a .042 batting average.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Jonas CeBallos of Austin College had a strong 2026 debut in the opening game of Austin College's series against LeTourneau, earning the victory in a 3-2 game. CeBallos gave up one run on just two hits in 5.0 innings of work. He also struck out two batters and boasted a 0.60 WHIP. Senior Rowdy Hoadley of Concordia (Tex.) struck out eight batters, only allowing two hits and a pair of runs in 5.2 innings of action in a season-opening win over Dallas. Hoadley allowed just two walks to the 22 batters faced. Junior Camden Miller of LeTourneau made two relief appearances and went 1-0 in 4.1 innings with a 2.08 ERA and a 0.46 WHIP. After tossing a scoreless inning in game two at Austin, he threw 3.1 innings and surrendered just two hits and one run while striking out five to pick up the victory in game three. First-year Hagen Tate of McMurry earned the win in McMurry's lone victory over Texas Lutheran going 5.0 innings while striking out six batters. Tate allowed a pair of earned runs on three hits and three walks. Senior Jake Dempsey of Ozarks (Ark.) provided another strong outing to pick up his second win of the season against Hardin-Simmons on Friday. Dempsey tossed a three-hitter over five innings in the Eagles 7-1 win. He allowed just one earned run and struck out two while limiting the Cowboys to a .176 batting average. Junior Nolan Sauceda of Schreiner earned the save in a 4-1 win over Centenary tossing the final 4.0 innings allowing just one hit and a pair of walks in a scoreless outing. The save marked the first of his career. First-year Jack Grames of Texas Lutheran tossed all seven innings and allowing just one unearned run on six hits. He struck out three batters and allowed four walks in his second consecutive win.
