KATELYN HOWARD OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a senior right-handed pitcher from Waller, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Hitter-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, February 2 through Sunday, February 8. SCAC Softball Release - Week 1
Howard tossed her first career solo no-hitter in her Opening Day start against UMHB, striking out eight and only allowing one walk. The no-hitter is the 37th in program history and the first since 2024 and the first Opening Day no-hitter since Maitlin Raycroft in 2018 against Huston-Tillotson.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior right-handed pitcher Emma Salis of Hendrix College allowed just three runs on five hits, while striking out a pair in a complete game performance against Williams Baptist last week. Junior pitcher Victoria Sossaman of St. Thomas delivered a complete game performance in the Celts 9-4 win over Hardin-Simmons last week. Sossaman tossed seven innings, allowing just four runs on 10 hits, while striking out five.
