Cleveland lifted the War Hawks to a perfect 3-0 record to start the season for the first time since 2022-23 with wins last week over Howard Payne and Trinity. She was a defensive force, averaging three steals a game, including six in the win over Howard Payne. Cleveland also averaged 6.5 defensive rebounds and 1.0 block per night as her efforts have McMurry currently allowing just 61.7 points per game to opponents, early in the season. The War Hawks are one of just three teams in the SCAC currently allowing opponents un 62 points per game.
Sophomore forward Addie Meyer of Colorado College was a monster on the glass last weekend for the Tigers, averaging 4.7 boards per game, and grabbed a career-high nine boards on Saturday against Pacific. She helped lead the Tigers to two wins over the week against Aurora and Puget Sound. She added 13 points against Pacific and ended averaging 6.0 ppg, 0.7 steals per game and 1.0 assists per game. Junior guard Taysie Trejo of Concordia averaged 3.5 steals and 2.0 defensive rebounds per game last week for the Tornados. Trejo led all players with four steals and 30 points in a tough 73-65 loss to Linfield last Friday. Senior guard Kylie Weeks of LeTourneau led the defensive effort for the YellowJackets last week, averaging three steals per game, including four against Belhaven on Saturday. Week also grabbed 4.5 defensive rebounds per game and averaged a 0.5 block per game. Senior guard Lili Garcia of Ozarks swiped four steals and grabbed four defensive rebounds in the Eagles, 107-76, win over Lyon on the road on Saturday. Senior forward Madison Parham of Schreiner produced three defensive rebounds, two steals and one block to lead the Mountaineers’ defensive effort in a 72-59 win over Sul Ross St. last Friday night.
