LEXINGTON, Ky. -- In an announcement made Tuesday by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA), six SCAC programs earned the AVCA Team Academic Award sponsored by INTENT for the 2024-2025 season.
Austin College, Colorado College, McMurry University, Schreiner University, Southwestern University and Trinity University were six of the record breaking 1,450 collegiate and high school volleyball teams, including 228 Division III women's programs to be honored for recording a minimum combined 3.30 grade-point average on a 4.0 scale, or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
Austin College secured the award for the third-straight year, while Colorado College has earned the honor for the 13th consecutive year. In total this year represents the 22nd time CC has achieved AVCA Team Academic honors since its inception in 1992-93 and the Tigers’ current streak of 13 consecutive years is the longest in league history.
McMurry secured honors for the third-straight year and fourth time in the last five years. Schreiner earned the honor for second consecutive year, and Southwestern was honored for the fifth-straight year and 15th time in program history.
The Trinity Tigers posted its longest streak of six -straight seasons with recognition in 2024-25. Trinity has now been recognized nine times in program history following its first honor during the 2008-09 academic year.
