SUWANEE, Ga. – McMurry University sophomore first baseman Collin Bruning and Concordia University (Tex.) outfielder Landon Hyle were named to the D3baseball.com Team of the Week for performances the week of March 16-22.
Bruning, a sophomore from Abilene, Texas, hit .583 (7-for-12) over a weekend sweep against Hendrix with 12 RBI, six runs scored and six of seven hits being for extra bases. Bruning posted a stellar 1.667 slugging percentage for the week totaling 20 bases in 12 at bats. Bruning had a monster game in the series finale against Hendrix going 4-for-4 with a pair of doubles and two grand slams amassing eight RBI, tied for the second-most all-time in a single game in the SCAC.
Earlier in the week, Bruning was also named SCAC Hitter of the Week.
Hyle, a senior from Georgetown, Texas, put together a dominant all-around offensive performance, helping lead Concordia Texas to a 3-1 week, including a midweek victory over Wooster & a series win over Austin. Hyle hit .611 (11-for-18) across four games, recording 12 RBIs, 11 runs scored, and multiple extra-base hits, including two home runs, four doubles, and a triple. Hyle reached base at a .667 clip while posting a 1.278 slugging percentage, consistently producing in every game of the series. He recorded multiple multi-hit performances and was a key contributor in Concordia’s 54-run, 63-hit output over the four games.
The Team of the Week is D3baseball.com's weekly honor roll, in its 15th season of recognizing the top performers at each of nine positions from the previous week. Players are selected from nominations from their school's sports information directors.
Bruning is the first War Hawk to earn National Team of the Week honors since McMurry join the SCAC prior to the 2024-25 season, while Hyle is the first Tornado to be honored since Zach Seigrist was recognized in March of the 2025 season.
