SUWANEE, Ga. – Colorado College senior guard Kayla Mackel was named to the D3hoops.com Team of the Week for the week of February 1st, it was announced Tuesday by D3hoops.com.
Mackel dominated while leading the Tigers to a 2-0 weekend against Concordia (TX) and Texas Lutheran. She finished the weekend with 59 points, 14 rebounds and six three pointers. On Friday in Austin, Mackel collected her second 30-point game (career-high) and shot 52.6 percent from the floor while also grabbing eight boards. The following day in Seguin, Mackel scored 29 points, shot 58.8 percent from the floor, 62.5 percent (5-8) from three-point range and grabbed six rebounds. She also had four steals and three blocks over the two games.
Earlier this week, Mackel was also named SCAC Offensive Player of the Week.
The Team of the Week is D3hoops.com's weekly honor roll, in its 29th season of recognizing the top performance at each of the five positions from the previous week. Players are selected from nominations from their school's sports information directors.
Mackel is the third SCAC women’s student-athlete to earn D3hoops.com National TOTW recognition this season, joining TLU’s Lauren Sansano and Hendrix’s Riley Brady. She is the first CC Tiger to earn national honors since Zoë Tomlinson was recognized in January of the 2024-25 season.
