AUSTIN, Texas — Concordia University Texas has selected Chris Chacon, a respected Texas coach, league operator, and flag football leader, to lead the University's Women's Flag Football program.

Chacon brings extensive experience in coaching, athletics leadership, youth sports programming, and flag football development. He currently serves as Associate Head Coach for Girls Flag Football at Lehman High School, where he helped guide the team to an 8-3 record and a league championship appearance in the inaugural Dallas Cowboys Girls High School Flag Football League. He also serves as Program Director for Neighborhood Sports/NFL Flag in Austin and Head Coach and South Director for NS Elite Vipers, where he has helped develop athletes and grow competitive flag football opportunities throughout Central Texas.

As participation continues to expand at the high school and collegiate levels, Concordia Texas remains committed to providing opportunities for female student-athletes to compete, lead, and thrive while pursuing a Christ-centered education.

"Concordia Texas has been a pioneer in Women's Flag Football, and we remain committed to growing a program that reflects the excellence of our University," said Matt Wallis, Director of Athletics. "Coach Chacon brings an impressive combination of coaching experience, program leadership, athlete development, and deep connections within the Texas flag football community. Throughout his career, his teams have earned multiple postseason honors, including TAPPS state championship appearances and semifinal finishes. He was named TAPPS 2018 D3 Coach of the Year and has compiled a successful record of developing athletes, building programs, and creating winning cultures.

"I am honored to join Concordia University Texas and lead a program that has already made history in the state of Texas," said Chacon. "Concordia took an early leadership role in Women's Flag Football, and I am excited to build on that foundation. My goal is to recruit outstanding student-athletes, develop strong leaders, compete at a high level, and continue growing a program that makes the entire Concordia Texas community proud."

A graduate of Huston-Tillotson University, Chacon earned a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration and later completed a Sports Management Essentials certificate through Columbia University. He also holds USA Football, NFHS Coaching, AED, First Aid, and CPR certifications.
