Vance Feuerbacher, Centenary College, Football - Character & Community

VANCE FEUERBACHER OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a senior quarterback on the football team from Plano, Texas, has been selected the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Character and Community Male Student Athlete of the Week for the week beginning October 27.

The SCAC Character & Community award honors the efforts of student-athletes who excel in the field of athletics, and also serve their campus and community.

Vance will forever be remembered as one of the pillars of the rebirth of the Centenary football program.

He and his teammates completed the historic 2024 season 4-6 overall and 4-4 in SCAC play as the sport returned to campus for the first time in over a half-century.

The Gents provided their fans many memorable and exciting moments all season long and attendance approached 8,000 fans as the excitement and support was evident all season long at Atkins Field.

Vance, a senior from Plano, Texas, had his season cut short due to injury after five games but the impact he made in those games and the 14 he played in his career will be remembered forever.

The senior played all over the field in his time with the Gents, playing four different positions. Last season, he cemented himself as one of the conference's top all-around players as he was named to the 2024 All-SCAC Team, earning First-team honors at linebacker while also playing quarterback and punted and kicked.

He finishes his career with 1,377 yards passing and 14 total TD on the ground and through the air. He made 4-of-6 FG attempts and 13-of-16 PATs. He also punted 48 times with a long of 50 and landed seven inside the 20-yard line.

“Vance Feuerbacher has consistently proven himself to be a high-character, selfless leader,” said Centenary head coach Byron Dawson.

“Vance began his career as the starting quarterback during our 9–1 independent season. After rehabbing from an ACL injury, he returned to earn First Team All-Conference honors as a linebacker while also handling kicking and punting duties.”

“In 2025, Vance made a remarkable return to quarterback, setting historic passing marks this season. But beyond his accomplishments on the field, what truly sets Vance apart is his heart for service. He gives back to the community, makes a positive impact wherever he goes, and has earned a place on the Dean’s List multiple times. Vance is the true example of what it means to be a community minded, high character student-athlete.”

Vance etched his name into the SCAC record book on Sept. 20 as he passed for 500 yards against East Texas Baptist University, which is the third-most yards all-time in a single game for a SCAC quarterback in conference history.

Named the SCAC Co-Offensive Player of the Week after that performance, he completed 31 of 48 passes and threw for five touchdowns and also scored on a 2-point conversion run and punted and kicked off.

Last season he finished 10th in the league in total offense, averaging 36.9 yards per game, tied for 11th place in the conference in tackles (45.0 total) and averaged 5.0 per game. He ranked second in the conference in punting (37.3 Average) with a long of 50 and punted 28 times.

He was named the SCAC Defensive Player of the Week, the D3football.com Team of the Week and twice was named the SCAC Special Teams Player of the Week. Vance was also named to the SCAC Student-Athlete Academic Honor Roll and is a member of the Dean’s List.
