SCAC Reveals 2025 Fall SAAC Team Sportsmanship Honorees

SUWANEE, Ga. - Seven Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference fall sports programs were recognized by the league as recipients of the SCAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee Team Sportsmanship award in balloting conducted following each sport's respective season.

The SCAC Student-Athlete Advisory Committee instituted the award prior to the 2016-17 academic year to honor the team that best portrays good sportsmanship and fair play from the players and coaches during the season. The fall awards are presented in men's and women's cross country, football, men's and women's soccer and volleyball.

Six of the seven programs receiving recognition this fall are now multi-time Team Sportsmanship honorees, with the Colorado College volleyball program earning the distinction for the first time in school history.

In men’s cross country, Colorado College earned the team sportsmanship honor, followed by Texas Lutheran and St. Thomas finishing second and third. This year marks the second time in the last three years and third time in the Tigers’ men’s cross country program has earned the award (2018, 2023 & 2025). On the women’s side, Colorado College and Texas Lutheran shared the honor. For the Tigers this marks the third time in program history they have secured at least a share of the top honor (2018, 2020-21 & 2025), while for the Bulldogs this represents the second time in program history to receive recognition, having previously been honored in 2023. Schreiner finished third in the voting in 2025.

Texas Lutheran earned the SCAC SAAC Team Sportsmanship award in football for the second consecutive year. The Bulldogs are the first football program in SCAC history to earn the honor in consecutive seasons. Austin College and Lyon rounded out the top three in the voting process.

In men’s soccer, Colorado College took top sportsmanship honors for the third consecutive year, followed by LeTourneau and Schreiner. CC is the first program to win the honor three consecutive years and is now the only program in men’s soccer history to win the award four different times (2021, 2023, 2024, 2025).

In women’s soccer, Dallas claimed the award for the third time in program history, previously winning the honor in back-to-back seasons in 2021 and 2022. The Crusaders are just the second program in SCAC Women’s Soccer history to win the honor three times, joining former member Southwestern (2019, 2020-21 & 2023). Centenary finished second and Austin College third in the league voting.

And in the sport of volleyball, Colorado College received top honors for the first time in program history after finishing in the top three of voting in the previous three seasons. Schreiner took home second and Austin College was slated third.
