Sansano led the Bulldogs to a 2-0 record on the road last week in league action, securing the No. 2 seed in the Gold Division, going into this weekend’s SCAC Tournament. Sansano averaged 19.5 points per game on 48.0 percent shooting and added 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 1.5 steals per game in leading the Bulldogs to a pair of critical road wins.
Junior guard Avory Miller of Austin College was outstanding in the team's final regular season weekend of the year, averaging 14.5 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 2.0 steals-per-game to help the 'Roos lock up the top seed in the SCAC Blue Division. Miller posted a double-double in a road game against Hendrix, scoring 12 points and grabbing 11 boards while handing out three assists in the win that clinched the division title for the 'Roos, and followed that with 17 points and three steals at Ozarks. Senior guard Kayla Mackel of Colorado College led the Tigers to another 2-0 weekend at home, helping clinch the Gold Division title in wins over Centenary and LeTourneau. She averaged 17.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 3.0 three-pointers per game. On Friday, she led the team with 22 points to reach 1,000 career points (17th player in program history to reach the mark). She followed it up with 12 points on Senior Day on Sunday against the YellowJackets. Senior guard Helana Chadwick of McMurry averaged 20.7 points per game last week in leading the War Hawks to a 1-2 record and securing the No. 3 seed in the SCAC Gold Division heading into the weekend’s conference tournament. Chadwick connected on 30.9 percent from the field, and has now scored 20-plus points in 20 games this season, leading the SCAC with 562 points on the year. Junior guard Abby Beene of Ozarks scored 19 points to lift the Eagles past division leader Austin College on Saturday afternoon and push the team’s win streak to seven going into the SCAC Tournament. She drilled a pair of three-pointers and grabbed five rebounds against Austin. For the week, she averaged 12.5 points and 5.5 rebounds. Senior guard Brie Sosa of Schreiner averaged 13.5 points on 47.4 percent shooting last weekend in leading the Mountaineers to a 1-1 week, highlighted by a senior day victory over Concordia on Sunday. Sosa added 7.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 1.5 steals per game to close out the season. Junior guard Kenna Gibson of St. Thomas was outstanding in leading the Celts to a 3-0-mark last week against SCAC foes to close out the regular season. Gibson averaged 18.7 points per game behind 54.3 percent shooting and added 3.0 rebounds, 2.0 steals and 0.7 assists per game in wins over McMurry, LeTourneau and Centenary at home.
