RICKEY FRANKS, EDEN PEREZ, TAVION PARRISH & HEZEKIAH MCDOW OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, the Bulldogs 4x100 Relay Team has been selected the SCAC Men’s Track Athletes of the Week for meets held from Monday, March 30 through Sunday, April 5. SCAC Track & Field Weekly Release - Week 6
Franks, a senior, Perez, a sophomore, Parrish, a first-year and McDow, a sophomore, ran 40.74 at the J.G. Gonzales Memorial Invitational meet held at Trinity University on Friday. That time ranks them atop the listing for Division III.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year Ian Hunter of Centenary ran a personal-best time of 4:46.85 in the 1500-meter run on Thursday in the Carl Knight Lumberjack Invitational, hosted by Stephen F. Austin University, in Nacogdoches, Texas. Senior Rabbit Barnes of Colorado College was the runner-up in the 1500 at the Jerry Quiller Classic in Boulder, Colo., with a time of 3:52.28, competing against Division I and II athletes. When converted for altitude his time is 3:46.74, the third-fastest time in Division III this spring. Junior Westin Bruce of Hendrix finished sixth in the men's 100 meters with a 10.61 at the Carl Knight Invitational hosted by Stephen F. Austin. He also anchored the 4x100 relay team that posted a 41.58 to win the event. First-year Xavier Davila of LeTourneau finished 14th (out of 62) with a personal record time of 1:56.67 in the 800-meter at the Carl Kight Invitational. He then also set a personal record in the 1500-meter at 4:16.61. First-year Elijah Emerson of St. Thomas (Tex.) finished second overall in the Men 1500m at the J.G. Gonzalez Memorial Invite. He ran a time of 4:01.65 to push him up to third fastest in the conference.
