JUSTIN NAVARRO OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a junior defensive back from Edinburg, Texas, has been named the SCAC Football Defensive Player of the Week for games played Saturday, November 8th. SCAC Football Release (Week 10)
Navarro totaled six tackles for the Bulldogs with one forced fumbled and an interception returned for 18 yards. Navarro's interception came on Lyon's opening drive of the second half and was the third of his career.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior linebacker Pablo Cantu of Austin College came up huge in the clutch for the 'Roos in a come-from-behind 20-10 win over Centenary saving his biggest play for the fourth quarter with a sack to stall the Gents. Cantu totaled four tackles in the game, one pass breakup, and his lone sack came inside the final minute of play. Junior defensive back Bryan Washington of Centenary had a team-leading seven solo tackles for the Gents on Saturday night against Austin College and added an interception, pass breakup, and a forced fumble. Sophomore linebacker Brayden Youree of McMurry had three tackles in the War Hawks win against Hendrix with all three tackles for loss and an interception. The interception came late in the second quarter to help spark the War Hawks' comeback.
