EVAN PACHECO OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a sophomore midfielder from San Antonio, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played from Tuesday, September 2nd through Sunday, September 7th. SCAC Men's Soccer Release (Week 2)
 
Pacheco was outstanding last week, registering six points on two goals and two assists to help the Bulldogs post a 1-0-1 record. Pacheco opened the week, assisting on the lone Bulldog goal in a 1-1 draw against Marymount (Va.) on Friday, before returning on Sunday to register two goals and one assist in TLU’s, 5-0, shutout victory over Howard Payne. The two goals against Howard Payne marked the first multigoal effort of Pacheco’s career. On the season, Pacheco tied for first in the league with eight total points and currently sits in second in the SCAC with three goals.
 
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior defender Dylan Clark of Centenary buried a late penalty kick on Sunday afternoon to lift the Gents to a 1-0 shutout victory over Lyon at home. It was the second goal of the season for Clark and the fifth in his career. First-year midfielder Ewen Robertson of Colorado College continued his torrid start to his collegiate career scoring twice last week to help the Tigers post a 1-0-2 record in three home fixtures. Robertson scored his first goal of the week in a 2-2 tie against Whitman and then extended his scoring streak to four consecutive games to start his career when he rang home the game-winner in the Tigers’ 2-0 win over Cal Lutheran on Friday. First-year midfielder Edmond Elone of Concordia (TX) lifted the Tornados to a 3-1 season opening victory against Howard Payne of the road after ringing home the game-winner in the 24th minute. Junior forward Caleb Nelson of LeTourneau registered an assist in each of the YellowJackets’ opening two contests last week. He assisted on the opening goal in LeTourneau’s 1-1 draw against Belhaven and then again on the opening marker in a 2-2 tie against Millsaps. Nelson and LeTourneau are now unbeaten through the first two games of the season for the first time since 2019. Junior winger Tony Castro of St. Thomas scored the lone goal in the Celts’ 1-0 home opening victory over Hardin-Simmons last Saturday. The win evened St. Thomas’ record to 1-1 on the year.
