KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced the 13th annual Team Academic Excellence Awards on Thursday, and four Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball programs were recognized. Full Release
These awards recognize outstanding academic achievement by a team with a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better for the 2024-25 season.
The SCAC was represented by Austin College, Colorado College, Schreiner University and Trinity University. Trinity has earned the distinction in all 13 years since the award was established in 2012-13, while Colorado College was honored for the third-straight year and 10th time in program history. Schreiner was honored for the fourth-consecutive year and Austin College was recognized for the first time since 2016.
This year marks the fourth-straight season and 10th in the last 11 the SCAC has seen three or more teams earn NABC Team Academic Excellence honors.
Additionally, 26 SCAC individuals, including 10 from Colorado College, four from both Trinity and Schreiner and three from Austin College earned NABC Honors Court accolades.
In order to earn a NABC Team Academic Excellence Award, institutions in the NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA must count the grade point averages of all men’s basketball student-athletes who competed during the 2024-25 season.
