LOGAN BRINKOETER OF LETOURNEAU UNIVERSITY, a junior from Georgetown, Texas, has been named the SCAC Men’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for games played from Monday, December 15 through Sunday, December 21. SCAC Men's Basketball Release (Week 7)
Brinkoeter averaged a double-double with 12.0 rebounds and 10.5 points per game in a 2-0 week for LeTourneau. He had 12 rebounds and 10 points in a win over Millsaps before going for 12 rebounds and 11 points in win over Lewis & Clark. Brinkoeter had one steal vs. Millsaps and one block vs. Lewis & Clark. He collected 8.5 defensive rebounds per game in the two wins.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Senior Ethan Pearce of Austin College had a huge game defensively in his one appearance last week in a loss to Millsaps, blocking five shots and coming away with three steals while also posting a double-double of 12 points and 13 rebounds. Sophomore Nicholas Addison of Centenary had an impressive all-around game for the Gents in a 91-75 loss to UMHB as he finished with season highs in blocks (4) and assists (5) to go with five points, four rebounds, and a steal in 33 minutes. Junior Charles Gitonga of St. Thomas (Tex.) played a key defensive role in a 2-0 weekend, highlighted by a statement win over then-undefeated and No. 5 Mary Washington. He controlled the paint with 19 total rebounds and five blocks across two starts, averaging 9.5 rebounds per game while anchoring the Celts’ interior defense.
