TERRION BENSON OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a first-year guard from Milwaukee, Wis., has been named the SCAC Men’s Basketball Defensive Player of the Week for games played from Friday, November 7 through Sunday, November 9. SCAC Men's Basketball Release (Week 1)
Benson shined in his collegiate debut, helping spark a 23-point comeback OT win over DII foe Western Colorado. Benson finished with a game-high four steals, four rebounds, 15 points and one assist in only 17 minutes on the court. Benson had three steals that resulted in fast break dunks and helped spark the comeback win.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore guard Nicholas Addison of Centenary averaged 5.0 defensive rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.0 blocks per game in leading the defensive charge for the Gents in the opening two games of the season. First-year Charles Hatchett of Hendrix opened his career with an outstanding defensive effort leading the Warriors with three blocks and 11 rebounds, eight of which were defensive boards. Junior Corey Thompson of St. Thomas was a defensive force in the season opener, recording five steals and four assists without a single turnover. His energy and composure helped the Celts secure the 1-0 start to the season.
