ANDREW REIMAN AND FERNANDO VAZQUEZ OF LETOURNEAU UNIVERSITY, have been named the SCAC Men’s Doubles Team of the Week for matches played from Friday, April 10 through Sunday, April 12. SCAC Men's Tennis Weekly Report - Week 9
Reiman, a sophomore from Houston, Texas, and Vazquez, a sophomore from Naucalpan de Juarez, Mexico, went 2-0 at the No. 1 doubles flight on the week. They defeated St. Thomas' Sawyer White and Wilson Salazar by a 6-4 final and then took down Colorado College's No. 1 duo of Justin Boder and Dominik Kaminski 6-1. The tandem moved to 9-4 on the year.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Sophomores Patrick Fenner and Wyatt Fischer of Austin College had a big comeback win on line two doubles against Hendrix, earning a 7-5 win after trailing 2-5 early in the match. The duo dropped a 6-1 decision against Ozarks' Ryan Rosalin and Archie Martyn-Smith on Friday. Sophomore Aaron Griffin and senior Kade Talbot of Concordia (Tex.) went 2-0 at No. 2 doubles to help lead the Tornados to a pair of conference wins over Schreiner and McMurry. The duo opened the weekend with a strong 6-4 victory over Ari Nadler-Torres & Andrew Reyes of Schreiner before delivering a dominant 6-1 win in their second match against Isaac Gutierrez & Evan Pezirtzoglou of McMurry. Sophomore Wesley McClure and first-year James Thomson of Hendrix helped deliver a weekend sweep over the University of Dallas and Austin College by going 2-0 in the No. 1 doubles spot. The pair only dropped one game across their two matches, winning 6-0 against the Dallas No. 1 pairing and taking out Austin College's pair 6-1. Seniors Kento Iwahara and Perry Guidry of Ozarks (Ark.) posted a 2-0 record at No. 1 doubles during the week while pushing the Eagles to their third straight win. The duo defeated Cameron McIver and Timothy Wallace from Austin College 6-0 on Friday and then posted a 6-3 win over Christian DeLira and Aidan Nguyen from University of Dallas.
