Senior goalkeeper Avery Wright of Concordia (Tex.) produced a strong 90 minutes during the opening weekend of the Tornados’ season, playing the opening half in both matches. She collected a clean sheet with five saves in the season opener against UMHB and then allowed just one goal with three saves on Monday against Southwestern. Junior forward Kaylee Worth of McMurry sparked a full field defensive effort for the War Hawks to produce a shutout in a 1-0 win over Millsaps to open the season last Saturday. Worth and the War Hawks limited the Majors to just four shots and three corner kicks. Worth also chipped in offensively with one assist. Senior goalkeeper Jayla Lucas of Ozarks recorded 12 saves over two matches to open the 2025 season. Lucas played all 180 minutes in goal and helped the Eagles to a win against Miss. Univ. of Women. Junior goalkeeper Kylie Soich of St. Thomas anchored the Celts’ defense in goal, playing all 90 minutes in a 1-1 draw against No. 23 Pacific Lutheran. Soich made five saves, posted a 1.00 goals against-average and produced a .833 save percentage. Sophomore defender Noelani Ajel of Texas Lutheran steadied a defense that held Sul Ross State off the scoreboard in a 5-0 opening season win last Saturday. Ajel and the Bulldogs limited Sul Ross State to just four shots on target and zero corner kicks.
