KINLEY PESSEL OF LETOURNEAU UNIVERSITY, a junior from Marshall, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played from Monday, March 23 through Tuesday, March 24. SCAC Golf Release (Spring - Week 6)
Pessel led the YellowJackets to a runner-up team finish at the Goliath Compression Invitational, finishing second individually. She finished 12-over, 156 (81-75) and moved up the leaderboard with her 75 on Tuesday. She had two birdies in each of the rounds and earned her sixth top-five finish of the season. Her four birdies tied for second in the field, while her 19 pars finished tied for fifth out of the 49 player field.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Junior teammates Abby Yanta and Micah Rabey of Schreiner finished tied for sit hath the Goliath Compression Invite, posting two-day total scores of 158 (+14). Yanta fired a final round of 77 and finished at the top of the field with 22 pars, while Rabey’s best round was her opening 18 of 78 and finished tied for fifth with 19 pars. Sophomore Remme Trujillo of Concordia (Texas) finished tied for 20th at the Goliath Compression Invitational. Truillo fired rounds of 84 and 85 and finished tied for ninth with three birdies on the week.
