AMBER SHAW OF CENTENARY COLLEGE, a sophomore from Hughes Springs, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Golfer-of-the-Week for competition played from Monday, March 16 through Tuesday, March 17. SCAC Golf Release (Spring - Week 4)
Shaw led the Ladies to a fourth-place finish on Tuesday in their annual home tournament, the Hal Sutton Invitational, at The Golf Club at Stonebridge in Bossier City, La. Shaw finished eighth at 24-over par 168 as she recorded her first-career top-10 finish. Shaw fired back-to-back 84’s to fire a two-round total of 168 and finish as the top SCAC athlete in the field.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Jennifer Converse of Dallas led the Crusaders at the CLU Regals Invite last week, finishing 26th with a two-round total of 169. She was outstanding on the Par-5 holes, finishing the week tied for sixth in the field with an ever par average score of 5.00, highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 fifth in the second round. Senior Amber Alsup of Hendrix led the Warriors at the Hal Sutton Invite, finishing tied for ninth with a two-round total of 170 after posting rounds of 88 and 82. Sophomore Belle Asbury of Texas Lutheran posted a top-15 finish at the Hal Sutton Invite, finishing 14th with a two-round total of 172. Asbury fired identical rounds of 86 to finish 28-over par. Sophomore Cameron Fraizer of St. Thomas led the Celts to a fourth-place finish at the Cal Lutheran Regals Invite with a top-10 individual finish. Fraizer opened with a 74 before firing a second round 81 for a two-day total of 155 (+11). Fraizer finished tied for sixth in the field with five birdies over the two rounds.
