MACKENZIE COMBS OF TEXAS LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY, a junior from New Braunfels, Texas, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week for meets conducted Friday, September 12. SCAC Cross Country Release (Week 3)
Combs led the way for the Bulldogs last Friday at the UIW Invitational, posting a 5K PR time of 19:04.6 to finish 29th out of 129 total competitors. In a field comprised of predominantly Division I and Division II athletes, Combs posted a top-30 finish and finished among the top three of all Division III athletes in leading TLU to ninth-place team finish.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year runner Liliana Lutz of Concordia (TX) led the Tornados to a sixth-place finish at the Rice Invitational after turning in a 23rd-place individual finish, crossing the line of the 4K race in a time of 16:50.3. Senior Alayna Galloway of LeTourneau posted a 19th-place individual finish at the Rice Invitational with a 4K PR time of 16:19.2. Her efforts helped lift the YellowJackets to a fourth-place team finish at the event. Senior Madison Soultanova of McMurry was the top War Hawk finisher at the UIW Invitational last Friday, placing 58th with a 5K time of 20:10. Her time broke her previous 5K personal best by over three minutes. First-year Keyanna Brown of St. Thomas paced the Celts at the Rice Invitational, turning in an 18th-place individual finish, crossing the line of the 4K course in 16:16.2. Her efforts led St. Thomas to a fifth-place team finish.
