Scholz went a perfect 2-0 at No. 1 singles to lead the Tornados to a pair of SCAC wins over St. Thomas (Tex.) and LeTourneau. He opened the weekend with a dominant 6-0, 6-2 victory over Raja Pandya of St. Thomas before battling to a three-set win over Andrew Reiman of LeTourneau (2-6, 6-1, 7-6). Scholz’s ability to control play and deliver in clutch moments at the top of the lineup was key to the Tornados’ 2-0 weekend.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
First-year Timothy Wallace of Austin College earned a big point for the 'Roos against McMurry, winning a hard-fought 6-1, 7-6 (7-4) win on line five. Against Schreiner, Wallace lost 4-6, 1-6.. First-year Sam Lessard of Colorado College went a perfect 3-0 at the No. 5 singles spot last weekend as the Tigers won all three team matches. He opened the weekend with a 6-4, 6-2, victory over Joseph Guidry of Ozarks, then clinched a 4-3 team win over Division II Colorado Mesa with a thrilling 3-6, 6-4, 1-0(7) win over Gavin Hutter. Lessard closed the weekend with a 6-4, 6-1 triumph over Jaakko Keulen of Hendrix as the Tigers improved to 6-0 in the SCAC this season. Sophomore Wheeler Ehrlich of Dallas went undefeated at No. 5 singles, earning a dominant straight-set victory on Friday before battling back for a three-set comeback win on Saturday. His ability to both control matches and respond under pressure highlighted a complete and impactful weekend for the Crusaders. The three-set comeback also helped solidify a win in Kerrville, the first in SCAC play for the Crusaders this season. Sophomore Wesley McClure of Hendrix breezed through the No. 1 singles versus Colorado College in Hendrix's lone match of the weekend. The sophomore dropped only five games across his 6-1, 6-4 two-set victory. Senior Zach Farris of LeTourneau went 1-1 in singles and 2-0 at No. 2 doubles in a 1-1 week for LeTourneau. He earned a victory at the No. 1 flight in singles with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Texas Lutheran's Cash Herrera. He and Timothy Black had a 2-0 record at the No. 2 flight in doubles with wins over Texas Lutheran and Concordia. Senior Michael Haranczyk of St. Thomas (Tex.) battled through a three-set thriller, dropping the second set before rallying to win 6-3, 3-6, 6-3, clinching the match in decisive fashion and which helped seal the victory for the Celts over TLU. He dropped a 1-6, 6-7 match at No. 5 against Concordia (Tex.).
