JETT WARNER OF CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY (TEX.), a junior from Austin, Texas, has been named the SCAC Baseball Hitter of the Week of the Week for games played from Tuesday, April 7 through Sunday, April 12. SCAC Baseball Release - Week 10
Warner led the Tornados at the plate during a 4-0 week, totaling nine RBIs including a pair of four-RBI performances and a walk-off base hit. The junior delivered in clutch fashion in Concordia’s 1-0 10-inning win over Trinity (Tex.), driving in the walk-off run. In a 13-3 game two win over Ozarks, he launched a grand slam for his first homer of the season. He followed that with another four-RBI performance in a 6-0 shutout victory, providing the bulk of the Tornados’ scoring.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First-year Keaton Bradshaw of Austin College was stellar at the plate for the 'Roos, batting .600 in three games, including doubling twice, scoring twice, and driving in a pair of runs against Schreiner as the 'Roos picked up the series victory. Bradshaw added a .615 on-base percentage and a .800 slugging percentage, and capped the big conference weekend with a 4-for-5 performance. Sophomore Noah Paulson of Centenary had a monster weekend for the Diamond Gents to lead them to a series win on the road at McMurry as he finished 8-for-12 (.667) with a .714 OBP and slugged .833. In Centenary's DH sweep to open the series he was 8-for-9 at the plate with five RBI, four runs scored, two doubles, and a walk. Paulson set a career-high for hits in a game in each half of the DH and now has 13 multi-hit games this season. Senior Shaun Pope of Hendrix went 10-for-15 in Hendrix's four games across last week, including a 6-for-10 weekend in the Warriors' series against Texas Lutheran. In those four games, he collected 8 RBIs and scored 6 runs while also drawing 4 walks. The senior also recorded an XBH in every game of the TLU series and slashed .600/.714/.900 in those three games. Graduate student Chris Savage of LeTourneau batted .571 (8-for-14) with two multi-hit games, four doubles, two RBIs, and two runs scored in a sweep of Dallas. Savage went 4-for-5 with a program-record four doubles and one RBI in an 8-7 win in game two. He was 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored in game three and was 1-for-4 in game one of the series. Junior Langdon Townsend of Ozarks (Ark.) became the program's single season stolen base leader during the Eagles series against Concordia University Texas. Townsend stole three bags and now has 23 steals this season, a new record at Ozarks. Townsend had a productive weekend at the plate, hitting .444 and driving in three runs. He was 3-for-3 in stolen bases against the Tornados. Sophomore Kale Lackey of Schreiner went 7-for-13 (.538) over a 1-2 weekend for the Mountaineers with three RBI and no strikeouts. Lackey posted multi-hit games in each contest starting the series with a bang going 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple, two RBI and two runs scored. Senior Chase Bourgeois of Texas Lutheran totaled seven hits and seven RBI over four games for the Bulldogs hitting .438 for the week with an .875 slugging percentage. Bourgeois had an extra base hit in every contest with three doubles and two triples including a two double day against Southwestern with five RBIs.
