KYLIE KIRK OF CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY (TEXAS), a sophomore first baseman/pitcher from Liberty Hill, Texas, has been named the SCAC Softball Hitter-of-the-Week for games played from Monday, March 31 through Sunday, April 6. SCAC Softball Release - Week 9
Kirk was dominant in a series sweep over Dallas last weekend. She posted a perfect 1.000 batting average, going 7-for-7 with six extra base hits, including three home runs, two doubles and one triple. Kirk drove in a remarkable 11 runs, scored nine runs, drew two walks, stole two bases, posted a spectacular .900 on-base percentage and boasted a powerful 2.857 slugging percentage. Her weekend was highlighted by a perfect 4-for-4 effort with two home runs and six RBI in the Tornados’ 16-1 win over Dallas in game two of the series.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
First year outfielder Kaitlynn Alello of Centenary had an impressive week at the plate for the Ladies as she went 6-for-11 (.545) with a .643 on-base percentage and slugged .727. She had five RBI, two doubles, two runs, one walk, and stole one base. 5-7 with five RBI and two runs scored in the Ladies' series win over the weekend versus Austin College. Junior catcher Chloe Bennett of St. Thomas powered the Celts to two dominant wins over Ozarks, going 4-for-5 with three home runs, six RBI, four runs scored, and three walks. She finished with an .800 batting average and a 2.600 slugging percentage. Junior second baseman Caelee Clark of Texas Lutheran came alive this week hitting .600 on the weekend with four runs scored and seven stolen bases to return to the national lead in stolen bases with 39 on the season. Clark posted a pair of multi-hit games, including a 3-for-4 performance in a 6-1, game two victory. Junior infielder Angela Baltzell of Trinity batted .556 (5-for-9) with five runs scored and eight RBI over the weekend, leading Trinity to an SCAC sweep over Schreiner on the road. She went 2-for-3 with three runs and three RBI in the opening game of the series, then completed the sweep by going 2-for-2 with three RBI in Saturday's finale. This season, Baltzell is batting .433 (39-of-90) with 32 runs scored and 24 RBI.
