Satomura took a 7-6, 7-5 win over Sam Black from East Texas Baptist on February 17 in Texarkana. Playing the No. 1 singles position, Satomura took down Black, who was an ASC All-Conference player last season, with constant play throughout the match.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
First-year Jace Warner of Austin College had an outstanding debut performance, earning a point in a road match against NAIA receiving votes-opponent Texas A&M-Texarkana, falling behind 6-1 after the first set but battling back to win 7-6 (8-6). Sophomore Wesley McClure of Hendrix rallied from a one-set deficit to take the final two sets against Freed-Hardeman's Benjamin Ganem in the No. 1 singles 1-6, 6-2, 6-0 and help secure the singles round in Hendrix's 4-3 win. Sophomore Andrew Reiman of LeTourneau notched two wins, including the clinching victory, as LeTourneau defeated Howard Payne, 6-1, in the season opener. He clinched the match with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Riley Harker at the No. 2 flight. In doubles, he and Fernando Vazquez were 6-1 winners at the top flight.
