Sanchez went a perfect 2-0 at No. 2 singles to help lead the Tornados to a 2-0 weekend in SCAC play. She earned a straight-set win (6-3, 6-2) over Ella Mullins of St. Thomas (Tex.) before following it up with another dominant performance in a 6-1, 6-3 victory against Maddie Nichol of LeTourneau. Sanchez controlled both matches from start to finish, playing a key role in the Tornados’ conference success.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore Olivia Sanchez of Austin College won in straight sets at number one singles against Schreiner, taking a 6-3, 6-3 victory in the conference road match for the 'Roos. Sanchez was also part of Austin College's number one doubles team that earned a victory as well. Sophomore Lucia Moravek of Colorado College went a perfect 3-0 in singles last weekend as the Tigers won all three team matches. She opened the weekend with a 6-2, 6-1, victory over Madison Hamilton of Ozarks at the No. 3 position, then clinched a 4-3 team win over Division II Colorado Mesa with a thrilling 2-6, 7-5, 1-0(9) win over Delia Maier at No. 4. Moravek closed the weekend with a 6-1, 6-2 triumph over Kate Adcox of Hendrix as the Tigers improved to 6-0 in the SCAC this season. First-year Avery Williams of Dallas went undefeated at No. 1 singles, earning a dominant straight-set victory on Friday against McMurry before grinding out a three-set win on Saturday against Schreiner. Her ability to command the court and respond consistently created an impactful weekend for the Crusaders, with the dominant Friday performance helping secure a SCAC win. Senior Kylie Weeks of LeTourneau went 1-1 at the No. 1 singles flight and 1-1 at No. 1 doubles in a 1-1 week for LeTourneau. She earned a 6-1, 6-1 win over Texas Lutheran's Lucero Alvarado and had a win at the top flight in doubles in the same match. Junior Mackenzie Griffin of Schreiner went 2-0 in league play this weekend, highlighted by a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 2 over Dallas' Kathleen Roset. Griffin followed that up with a 6-3, 6-0 win over Austin College's Elizabeth Mojica. Senior Adriana Iturralde of St. Thomas (Tex.) delivered a dominant singles performance, cruising to a 6-0, 6-0 sweep to secure a conference win over TLU for the Celts. She also posted a 7-5, 6-3 win over Concordia (Tex.)'s Jeauxleigh Cantu at No. 5.
