EWEN ROBERTSON OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a first-year midfielder from Concord, Mass., has been named the SCAC Men’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week for games played through Monday, September 1st. SCAC Men's Soccer Release (Week 1)
Robertson had a remarkable debut weekend, scoring a goal in each contest as the Tigers went 1-0-1 with a win over DePauw and a draw against Wheaton to open 2025. His first tally came in a 3-0 win over DePauw on Friday, and the next in a 2-2 tie versus Wheaton on Saturday. He finished the trip with four shots, three shots on goal, and a shot on goal percentage of 75 percent.
Other outstanding performances in the SCAC:
Sophomore forward Luis Garza-Rios of Austin College had a big opening game in helping the ‘Roos earn a 2-0 victory over Howard Payne at home to start 2025. Garza-Rios came off the bench to punch home both of the team's tallies in a span of just 3:18 midway through the second half, and put three of his four total shot attempts on target in the victory. Senior forward Connor Buche of Centenary scored a pair of goals in the Gents' 9-0 win in a non-conference contest and their season opener on Friday evening at home. Buche scored consecutive unassisted goals, the second and third of his career, in the 70th minute and at the 76-minute mark to make it 7-0. First-year forward Justyn Judie of McMurry registered a brace in the War Hawks 5-1 win over Arlington Baptist to open the 2025 campaign. In two games to open the season, Judie registered seven shots, four on target and finished with two goals. Sophomore midfielder Giovanni Casias of Ozarks netted the game-winning goal after connecting on a penalty kick in the Eagles season-opening 2-1 win against Howard Payne. Casias scored the game-winner in the 89th minute on a rocket shot past the keeper. For the week, he created four shots, with two of those on goal. First-year midfielder Jesus Carrillo of Texas Lutheran registred a goal in his collegiate debut to help life the Bulldogs to 2-0 win over Hardin-Simmons last Friday. His marked helped TLU earn an opening season victory of the third time in the last four years.
