ASPEN YOUNG OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a sophomore from Niceville, Florida, has been selected the SCAC Women’s Tennis Player of the Week for matches played from Monday, March 16 through Sunday, March 22. SCAC Women's Tennis Weekly Report - Week 6

Young
 posted a 4-1 record at No. 1 singles last week during CC's spring break trip to Texas/California. She opened the week with a decisive 6-3, 6-2 victory over Suzanne Xu, helping the Tigers defeat #22 Wellesley College. The next day, she downed Eva Kovachev, the 48th-ranked player int he country, 6-3 2-6, 6-3. Her only loss of the week was to Carissa Gerung of #31 Cal Tech, 7-6 (2), 4-6, 7-6(3), but CC still won the match 4-3. Aspen then closed the week with a pair of straight set wins over Greta Nagy of Occidental and Chloe McBride of Chapman. The Tigers are 10-3 and Young is 10-3 at the No. 1 position.

Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC: 
Sophomore Valerie Sanchez of Concordia (Tex.) went 2-1 on the week at No. 1 singles, earning key straight-set victories over Austin College’s Olivia Sanchez (6-2, 6-4) and Dallas’ Avery Williams (7-6, 6-1). She anchored the lineup in two 7-0 conference sweeps, bouncing back with dominant performances to lead CTX at the top spot. Her lone loss came to #22 Wellesley College's Suzanne Xu 6-0, 6-3. Senior Kylie Weeks of LeTourneau went 2-0 at the top flight in singles and 2-0 at No. 1 doubles in a 1-1 week for LeTourneau. She defeated Ozarks' Kelsey Smith, 6-3, 6-0 at the top flight and then defeated Hendrix's Caroline Lasley in three sets 0-6, 6-2, 6-1. She and Chloe Tesser went 2-0 with wins over top-flight foes from Ozarks and Hendrix. Junior Nataly Velasco of St. Thomas (Tex.) delivered a dominant performance going 2-0 over the week for the Celts against Ozarks (Ark.) & Hendrix. Against Ozarks (Ark.), Velasco did not drop a single game earning a straight-sets win while against Hendrix, Velasco posted a 6-1, 6-4 win. First-year Farah Standley of Texas Lutheran earned a pair of wins in conference play earning a third-set win over Dallas' Roset at No. 2 and a 6-3, 6-4 win over Austin College's Hofeldt at No. 3.
