Colorado College's Barnes Named SCAC Men's Track & Field Elite 19 Award Recipient

SEGUIN, Texas -- In a announcement made at Sunday's conference championship, Colorado College’s Rabbit Barnes was named the 2025 SCAC Men’s Track and Field Elite 19 award winner.

Barnes, a junior Neuroscience major from Los Olivos, Calif., currently holds a 3.973 GPA and earned two All-SCAC honors at this weekend’s SCAC Championships. Barnes won both the 800 and 1,500 meters on Sunday.

This marks the third straight year a CC student-athlete has won the Elite 19 award for Men's Track & Field as James Settles received the honor in both 2023 and 2024. Additionally, Barnes' selection marks the 34th time a Colorado College student-athlete has earned the prestigious Elite 19 award, the most of any conference member.

Established prior to the 2018-19 academic year and meant to recognize the best of the best within each conference sponsored-sport as it relates to both academic and athletic achievement, the SCAC Elite 19 is awarded to the student-athlete who has completed the equivalent of at least 60 credit hours at his or her current institution and has at least a cumulative 3.25 GPA. The student-athlete must also have earned All-SCAC First, Second or Third Team honors in his/her sport for that particular season.
