WACO, Texas – Top-seeded Trinity University claimed the program's 15-consecutive SCAC Men's Tennis championship with a 4-1 victory over second-seeded Southwestern University on Sunday at the Waco Tennis & Fitness Center. Official Website l Postmatch Interview | Photo Album
Trinity took a 1-0 lead after doubles play as the Tigers got wins from their No. 2 doubles team of Aashish Dhanani and Eric Liao (7-6, 7-4). The duo of Jared Perry and Conor Kaczmarczyk then earned a 6-2 win. Southwestern's Oscar Roy and Ashton Ellis forced the deciding doubles match after earning a 6-3 win at first doubles after a Trinity win at third doubles.
Singles action saw Liao earn a 6-1, 6-0 win at the fifth line before Southwestern's Parth Patel recorded a 6-4, 6-2 win at No. 6 singles. From there the Tigers put the Pirates away with wins at No. 3 singles (Ryan Warren: 6-4, 6-1) and No. 4 singles (Kishan Kersten: 6-3, 2-6, 6-0).
Trinity improved to 16-10 on the season while Southwestern falls to 16-7.
