Southwestern's Ellis Earns SCAC Men's Tennis Elite 19 Award

SUWANEE, Ga. -- In an announcement made today from conference headquarters, Southwestern University's Ashton Ellis was named the 2025 SCAC Men's Tennis Elite 19 award winner.

Ellis, a junior from Baton Rouge, La., who currently holds a 3.948 GPA in Business, earned First Team All-SCAC doubles honors this season, along with his playing partner Oscar Roy. Ellis posted an 11-6 overall doubles record in dual competition, including 9-5 with Roy at the top line. Ellis also earned Second Team All-SCAC accolades for his singles play, producing a 9-8 mark in dual match action, moslty across the second and third lines.

This marks the fifth time a Southwestern student-athlete has earned the Men’s Tennis Elite 19 honor, following Steven Tibbetts (2023-2024) and Alexis Demanche (2019-2020), who both earned the award in consecutive seasons.

As for this year's women's award, Southwestern's Daryl Locke completed the Elite 19 tennis sweep for the Pirates' program, giving the institution its 31st and 32nd all-time honoree across all conference sports - the second-most of any member behind Colorado College's 34.

Established prior to the 2018-19 academic year and meant to recognize the best of the best within each of the league's 19 sponsored sports as it relates to both academic and athletic achievement, the SCAC Elite 19 is awarded to the student-athlete who has completed the equivalent of at least 60 credit hours at his or her current institution and has at least a cumulative 3.25 GPA. The student-athlete must also have earned All-SCAC First or Second Team honors in his/her sport for that particular season.
