Tomorrow’s second round at the par-72, 5,718-yard layout will begin at 8:30 a.m.
On a sunny but extremely blustery day when wind gusts reached more than 25 miles per hour, Trinity finished at +38 and eight shots clear of Southwestern which is currently in second after firing a first-round team score of 334 (+46). The TU Tigers led the field in both birdies (seven) and pars (41) as head coach Shelby DeVore's squad opened their quest for a fifth-straight conference title which would equal the SCAC record for consecutive team championships (DePauw University, 2002-2006).
Three Tigers sit in the top five after the opening round, led by Jessica Mason who fired a 76 (+4) and is in second place on the individual leaderboard. Teammates' Lauren Huddleston and 2023 tournament medalist Alejandra Sanchez De La Fuente Molino are in third and fourth place, respectively, after firing rounds of 81 (+9) and 82 (+10).

Southwestern's Rachel Harris (pictured) sits atop the individual leaderboard after tying for the seventh-lowest opening round at the SCAC championships with a 75 (+3). She had three birdies over her round, including the only under par mark on No. 18 - which played as the fourth-toughest hole of the day. Her teammate Sloan Panter rounds out the top five individuals and is fifth in the 37-player field following a first round 83.
University of St. Thomas opened with a first-round score of 357 (+69) and is in third place. The Celts were led by Emma Luna who shot an opening round score of 84 and is in sixth place individually.
Rounding out the women's first-round team standings, Schreiner University and Texas Lutheran University are tied for fourth place with 363 (+75). University of Dallas is sixth with a 365 (+77), McMurry University sits in sixth with a 393 (+105) and Centenary College is seventh after an opening-round 404 (+116). Concordia University (Texas) has an individual playing but not enough players to score.
