Trinity's Hill Highlights 2025 All-SCAC Women's Tennis Team

SUWANEE, Ga. - In exclusive voting by the head coaches and sports information directors in the league, Ruth Hill of Trinity University has been selected the 2025 Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference (SCAC) Women’s Tennis Player-of-the-Year. It is the third consecutive year she has earned the honor. Complete Release

In the same balloting, Lucy Nabedrick of Trinity was tabbed as the league’s Newcomer-of-the-Year and her coach, Drew Cohn, was selected as SCAC Coach-of-the-Year.

Trinity’s top line player throughout the fall and spring, Hill, a senior from Abilene, Texas, finished the regular season with a 17-4 overall record in singles action and a 16-3 mark in double, primarily partnered with Lauren Tin. In her four years at Trinity, no Texas NCAA Division III singles player has taken a set off her. Hill, the fifth-ranked player in the West Region, was the ITA Fall Regional Champion (both for singles and partnered with Olivia Kim, in doubles) and made it to the Consolation Finals round at the ITA Cup back in October in both tournaments. At the 2025 SCAC Women’s Tennis Championship two weekends ago, she earned all-Tournament honors for both her singles and doubles play for the third consecutive year. She is just the fourth women’s player in league history to earn Player-of-the-Year honors three times in a career, joining Lizzie Yasser of Trinity (2000-2002), Liz Bondi of DePauw University (2005-2007) and Sofia Vega of Texas Lutheran University (2014-2016).

Hill follows a long string of Trinity players to earn SCAC POTY honors and her selection marks a record 16th time a Trinity student-athlete has earned the league’s top honor.

Nabedrick, a first-year from Plymouth, Minn., was a finalist at the ITA Fall Regionals in doubles and a quarterfinalist in singles. The freshman posted a 20-6 singles record on the season (13-5 in dual match play), playing as high as #2 singles with wins over several nationally ranked programs, including in Week 3 when she earned SCAC Player-of-the-Week honors with victories over competitors from seventh-ranked Johns Hopkins, 10th-ranked Washington and Lee and 17th-ranked Christopher Newport. Nabedrick was 9-3 in doubles play, which included a 4-0 mark in the spring against DIII opponents.

Nabedrick, who also earned First Team honors as a singles player as well as All-Tournament accolades at the SCAC Championships for her singles play, is the sixth straight Trinity women’s player to earn SCAC Newcomer-of-the-Year honors, joining Hailey Feuer (2019), Cate Cushing (2021), and current teammates Olivia Kim (2022), Trinity Levy (2023) and Rosabella Andrade (2024). No award was given in 2020 (Covid).

In his fifth season as the head coach of the Tigers, Cohn led the currently 11th-ranked Trinity women’s tennis squad to the 2025 SCAC championship match where the Tigers defeated Colorado College, 4-0. The win represented the 12th conference title in the last 13 contested championships for Trinity and 27th overall for the women's tennis program, the third-most conference crowns by one program in SCAC history, trailing only the 28 championships won by Trinity women's soccer and 29 by the Trinity men's tennis program. As the league’s automatic qualifier, Trinity (20-4) received a first-round bye and will open play on Saturday at the Pauley Tennis Complex on the campus of Pomona-Pitzer in California, against Whitman (22-3). A two-time ITA National Assistant Coach-of-the Year (2015 and 2017), this marks the fourth consecutive year that Cohn has earned SCAC Women’s Coach-of-the-Year honors.
