Komanduri pulled off one of the biggest victories in her career last Saturday, defeating Makenna Livingston of Colorado Mesa, 6-3, 6-7(5), 1-0(9), at the No. 1 position to clinch CC's first win over CMU since April 10, 2009. Livingston was ranked No. 67 in Division II for singles entering the match.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
First-year Helaina Reynoso of Southwestern went 3-0 last week at No. 4 singles as she defeated opponents from East Texas Baptist (6-3, 6-3), Hardin-Simmons (4-6, 6-2, 6-3), and McMurry (6-2, 6-2). Graduate student Kayla Pena of Concordia (Texas) led the Tornados to a 2-0 weekend with a pair of line one victories. In conference play against Schreiner, Pena led the charge to a 7-0 sweep with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Mackenzie Griffin. In a 4-3 nail-biting win over Hardin-Simmons, she clinched the match with 7-6 (7-4), 7-6 (8-6) decision against Laurel Coleman.
