ANNIE ENGSTROM OF COLORADO COLLEGE, a first-year from Annandale, Va., has been selected the SCAC Women’s Swimmer of the Week for performances during the meets swam Friday, October 31 & Saturday, November 1. SCAC Swimming & Diving Release (Week 4)
Engstrom continued to shine in her first collegiate season, last weekend helping the Tigers secure a dominant win over Div. II Adams State. The distance swimmer remained unbeaten in both the 500- and 1,000-yard freestyle, hitting the wall with winning times of 5:33.11 and 11:17.77. She currently holds the top time in both events to date in the SCAC. Additionally, she swam a leg on the Tigers’ winning 800-free relay squad, posting a split time of 2:06.1.
Other Outstanding Performances in the SCAC:
First-year Ellesyn Jankoviak of Asbury got her collegiate career off to a strong start posted a trio of top two finishes over the weekend, including a pair of gold medal performances. Jankoviak opened the weekend on Friday with a runner-up finish in the 100-yard breast (1:14.8) in a dual meet against Campbellsville and capped off the weekend with a pair of wins in the Eagles tri-meet victory over Midway and West Virginia Tech. She hit the wall first in both the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke with winning times of 1:15.2 and 2:42.6 respectively. Junior Reece Esser of Centenary recorded a trio of wins to lead the Ladies in a dual meet against conference competitor Ozarks last weekend. Esser claimed victories in the 50-yard free (25.96), 100-yard fly (1:04.49) and 100-yard back (1:05.87). She also swam a leg on the Ladies’ winning 200-medley relay team that posted a time of 2:06.54. Senior Jessie Wright of Ozarks led the Eagles to a dual meet win over conference opponent Centenary last weekend. Wright won the 200-yard IM (2:23.10) and placed second in the 100-yard back (1:06.05).
