LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Trinity (8-1-1, 7-0-0) extended its winning streak to seven last week following shutout victories against Schreiner (3-6-1, 2-5-0), Austin College (0-9-0, 0-5-0) and Dallas (2-5-1, 1-3-0) to highlight SCAC women’s soccer action to close out the month of September.
The Tigers combined to defeat their opponents, 10-0, in their three conference wins and are outscoring their opponents, 39-0, on this current seven match shutout winning streak. 2018 marks the fourth time in Trinity women’s soccer history that they have opened conference play with seven or more shutout victories (1996, 98, 2002, 16).
Texas Lutheran (3-4-1, 2-3-0) snapped Southwestern’s (5-3-0, 3-1-0) four-game winning streak, handing the Pirates their first loss in SCAC play after a 2-1 victory on Friday.
Centenary got back in the win column after falling in its previous three contests with a 2-1 victory against Austin College. The Ladies are now just one-win shy of posting the most wins in a single season since joining the SCAC.
Dallas (2-5-1, 1-3-1) secured its first league win of the season, 1-0, over Schreiner last Friday. The victory also marked the first shutout of the season for the Crusaders. Despite the losses earlier in the week to Trinity and Dallas, Schreiner closed out the weekend with a 2-0 win over Austin College to grab its second SCAC win of the year.
SCAC women’s soccer returns this week with three contests scheduled for Tuesday, Friday and Sunday, highlighted by Trinity traveling to both Southwestern and Centenary.
